7-Year-Old Critically Injured In Taylorsville Hit & Run Accident
TAYLORSVILLE, UTAH – July 17, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — A seven-year old boy is in critical condition after being brushed by a hit-and-run driver at a Taylorsville intersection Friday night.
According to Unified Police spokesman, Lt. Manfred Lassig, the child was sitting on his bike waiting to cross the street at 4515 West 5200 South when the driver of a pickup truck made a right hand turn and caught the bicycle’s front wheel.
The child was thrown to the pavement, suffering severe head lacerations, while the pickup truck drove off without stopping. The child was taken by ambulance to Primary Children’s Hospital in poor to critical condition.
Police say it is possible the driver of the pickup was unaware he’d hit the child’s bike. In the meantime, officers are on the lookout for a dark colored pick-up with a bike rack and two bikes on the back.
Anyone with information on the accident is asked to call Unified Police.
