UTAH COUNTY, Utah, July 1, 2020 (Gephardt Daily) — A 72-year-old man is dead after apparently suffering a medical emergency in American Fork Canyon Tuesday.
A news release from Utah County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a report of a man who collapsed on the trail at Timpanogos Cave National Monument.
“Investigators learned that the man from Provo was hiking the trail with family when they stopped for a break,” the news release said. “The man leaned over and collapsed, falling to the ground. He sustained a relatively minor head injury, but he was not breathing and had no pulse.”
Family members began CPR immediately and efforts were continued when deputies, Lone Peak Fire, and Life Flight arrived. Efforts to revive the man were not successful and he was pronounced dead on scene.  His body was taken to the Medical  Examiner’s Office.
His name is not being released in order to allow adequate time for family to be notified.
