KEARNS, UTAH – August 12, 2015 – A Kearns man who went missing around 8 a.m. Wednesday morning has been found.
According to Lt. Lex Bell, Unified Police Department said the elderly man left to go for a walk this morning but didn’t return. “His son called police around 1 p.m for assistance in helping to locate his dad because he suffers from dementia and has a hard time walking too far,” said Bell. “We notified all the businesses as well as sent a reverse 911 call to ask for everyone to keep an eye out for him.”
Lt. Bell said they were concerned due to his health, age and the heat. “We had a large scale search and officers were finally able to locate him around 2:30 p.m. A couple of citizens said they saw him earlier around 10:30 a.m. headed south so our officers headed that way on foot then they finally found him at the Oquirrh Park in Kearns.”
The man has been reported to be in fair condition and was transported by EMS crews to the hospital for further observation.
