UTAH COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 11, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Investigators are seeking tips after an abandoned campfire near the Santaquin Reservoir sparked a brush fire on private property.

“The fire was reported by a homeowner on Summit Ridge,” says a news release issued by Santaquin Fire/EMS.

Crews responded to the blaze, near the north end of the reservoir, in an unincorporated area south of Santaquin.

“This fire was the result of an unattended campfire that was left burning nearly 30 feet away. Winds carried embers into the tall dry grass causing the fire.

“As a reminder, all outdoor fires that are not in a developed campground, or your personal property are banned currently,” the statement says.
