OGDEN, Utah, Dec. 28, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A 26-year-old man was arrested by Ogden City Police Friday after officers say he declined detox treatment at Ogden Regional Hospital and fled in a silver Dodge Ram truck.

Hospital personnel identified the man as Tyson Treasure.

“After the truck left the parking lot it was called in again numerous times for reckless driving as it made its way north,” Treasure’s arrest document says.

“The Gray Dodge Ram pick-up truck described was located by a Highway Patrolman near 40th and Adams, attempted to stop the vehicle. Utilizing red and blue flashing emergency lights and sirens, the trooper attempted to stop the pickup truck. The driver then proceeded to flee northbound. The pursuit was terminated, and the vehicle was last seen heading eastbound on 36th Street.

“After the termination of the pursuit, other calls came in regarding other hit-and-runs with the suspect vehicle all matching that of the Dodge Ram Truck that had fled from Ogden Regional and officers at 40th and Adams.

“The first one was a crash at 40th and Washington, then at 42nd and Harrison, then at 20th and Harrison. And then a final crash at 12th and Harrison where the truck was ultimately disabled enough that it could no longer drive.”

Harrison and 42nd Street

A white Ford and a white Kia were stopped in the eastbound-facing left turn lanes of 42nd Street, Treasure’s arrest document says.

“Tyson’s vehicle came up behind and failed to stop or slow and rammed the back of the Ford as Tyson attempted to drive through the intersection against the red light. This pushed (the) Ford into the back of the Kia. Tyson then backed up, made an illegal U-turn and fled West on 42nd. Luckily, no injuries were reported.

“However, witnesses got a look at the driver before he fled and stated that he appeared to be intoxicated as he had glossy eyes and appeared slumped over as he was driving. They also described the driver as a white male in his 20s with shoulder-length hair (a description that matches that of Tyson).”

Harrison and 20th Street

The crash at Harrison Boulevard and 20th Street involved a pedestrian, believed to be approximately 50 years old, who died as a result of his injuries.

At that location, his arrest document says, Treasure failed to slow or stop, and struck a stopped Honda and Tesla, two vehicles stopped for a red light. The man who died was a pedestrian crossing in front of the stopped Honda.

“The Honda was pushed into the intersection and through the crosswalk where a pedestrian was crossing. The Honda ran over the pedestrian. After coming to a stop off the roadway, Tyson reversed into the roadway and then fled North on Harrison. The driver suffered severe injuries to the face and the pedestrian was tragically killed.”

Harrison and 12th Street

At least two people in the final vehicle that was struck, at Harrison Boulevard and 12th Street, experienced injuries that included one that was major but not believed to be life-threatening.

Treasure, “after traveling at a high rate of speed, failed to stop for a red light and failed to yield to other traffic,” his arrest document says. “Tyson T-boned another vehicle in the intersection. The driver of the other involved vehicle was pinned in the vehicle and suffered major injuries to her pelvis and lower extremities.”

Treasure’s vehicle was disabled in the final collision, the police statement says.

Officers on the scene of this crash also indicated that they observed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Tyson’s person as well as the truck.”

Treasure was taken to the Ogden City Police Department for an interview.

“During the interview, Officers observed the odor of alcoholic beverages emanating from Tyson’s person, Tyson also was having trouble staying awake throughout the interview,” his affidavit says.
