ST. GEORGE, Utah, Aug. 29, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have arrested two men after a reported aggravated robbery at a park in St. George Monday.

A news release from St. George Police Department said officials were called to the area of Slick Rock Park at 2395 E. Riverside Drive, on a reported robbery.

A man had arranged to meet with two acquaintances, later identified as Jesse Paul Bozek, 18, and Angel Isaiah Vazquez-Mendoza, 19, of St. George, the news release said.

During that meeting, near the bathrooms at the park, Bozek and Vazquez-Mendoza took property from the victim while brandishing a knife and gun, after which they fled the scene.

Because of the nature of the crime and weapons used, SWAT was called to assist with the service of a search warrant at a residence tied to the suspects. Evidence was collected that corroborated the victim’s account of the events, the news release said.

Both men were arrested and booked into Purgatory Correctional Facility. Bozek faces charges of one count of aggravated robbery, obstruction of justice and possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of possession of controlled substances. Vazquez-Mendoza faces charges of one count of aggravated robbery, obstruction of justice, and drug possession.
