SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, July 2, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Traffic was blocked and there was a large police presence Tuesday afternoon after a package judged to be suspicious was found near the Scott M. Matheson Courthouse.
Officials from the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office alerted the Salt Lake City Police Department at about 12:20 p.m., and bomb squad experts responded to the scene, at 450 S. State.
Chris Bronson, spokesman for the SLCo Sheriff’s Office, said there was no threatening call. Someone just spotted a package that seemed suspicious.
Building occupants were evacuated, Bronson said. Experts processed the scene, and determined there was no danger, he said.
