AMERICAN FORK, Utah, Jan. 11, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A 54-year-old American Fork man has been arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail on charges of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, officials said.

Sgt. Spencer Cannon, spokesman for Utah County Sheriff’s Office, said in a news release that on Jan. 7 deputies met with a man and woman in Eagle Mountain who said three of their daughters had been sexually abused.

“Detectives with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office also spoke to the parents and later interviewed the children,” the news release said. “The children disclosed that between May 26 and June 1, 2017, they were sexually abused when the parents were away from home and the children were home with a babysitter.”

The girls are all under age 10, the news release said.

The suspect, Richard Craig Watson, was arrested Thursday and booked into the Utah County Jail on two counts of first-degree felony aggravated sexual abuse of a child.

Watson has previously been on the Utah Sex Offender Registry, and has also been previously convicted of lewdness and failing to register as a sex offender, the news release said. He is currently on probation with the Utah Department of Adult Probation and Parole. Bail has not yet been set for these charges.

Detectives believe it is likely Watson has victimized others, the news release said. Anyone who might have been victimized by Watson, or knows anyone who has been victimized by him, should contact Detectives with the UCSO at 801-851-4010.
