KEARNS, UTAH – November 12, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Police are searching for an armed man who they said kidnapped someone in Kearns but then had a change of heart and dropped him back off, in front of officers.

Unified Police Det. Ken Hansen said police received reports about two men going to a home near 5600 West and 5400 South, entering the residence, showing a weapon to the victim and instructing him to come with them Wednesday at about 6:30 p.m.

Officers were on the scene when the two suspects returned and forced the victim from the car.

Officers followed the suspects’ car until they lost it in the area of 5420 West 5400 South, but later tracked down one of the alleged kidnappers—Cody James Carrillo—who was taken into custody. The other suspect is still on the run, but Det. Hansen said police know who he is, and they believe the incident could be gang-related.

Carrillo was booked for aggravated kidnapping and aggravated burglary.
