SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, April 4, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Tickets are still available for author Stephen King’s visit to Salt Lake City this summer.
To celebrate the release of his new novel “End of Watch,” King will embark on a 12-city book tour kicking off June 7 in New Jersey, according to his website. The tour will include an evening with King discussing “End of Watch,” the Bill Hodges Trilogy and more.
King will visit Juan Diego Catholic High School, 300 E. 11800 South, Draper, at 7 p.m. June 17. Tickets for the event are $37.50, and went on sale at 10 a.m. Monday at the Brown Paper Tickets website. Tickets are limited to two per person.
At each event, 400 pre-signed books will be given out at random. There will not be book signings during the appearances. In Salt Lake City, each person attending the event will also be given a copy of “End of Watch.”
“End of Watch” is the third and final book to feature retired police detective Bill Hodges, the hero of “Mr. Mercedes” and “Finders Keepers.”
In “End of Watch,” Hodges now runs an investigation agency with his partner, Holly Gibney—the woman who delivered the blow to Hartsfield’s head that put him on the brain injury ward, according to Amazon.
When Bill and Holly are called to a suicide scene with ties to the Mercedes Massacre, they find themselves pulled into a case that will put their lives at risk, as well as those of Bill’s heroic young friend Jerome Robinson and his teenage sister, Barbara. Brady Hartsfield is back, and planning revenge not just on Hodges and his friends, but on an entire city.
According to Wikipedia, King’s books have sold more than 350 million copies, many of which have been adapted into feature films, miniseries, television shows, and comic books. King has published 54 novels, “End of Watch” being the 55th, including seven under the pen name Richard Bachman, and six non-fiction books. He has written nearly 200 short stories, most of which have been collected in book collections. Many of his stories are set in his home state of Maine.
King has received awards for his contribution to literature for his entire oeuvre, such as the World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement (2004), the Canadian Booksellers Association Lifetime Achievement Award (2007), and the Grand Master Award from the Mystery Writers of America (2007). In 2015, King was awarded with a National Medal of Arts from the United States National Endowment for the Arts for his contributions to literature.
