MILLCREEK, Utah, July 29, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A 74-year-old man has been upgraded from critical to fair condition after being hit by a car Friday afternoon in Millcreek.

Unified Police Department Det. Chuck Malm said the bicyclist, traveling westbound, was hit by a 79-year-old woman who was turning left near 2300 E. Evergreen Ave (3435 South). Both were in the intersection, on a green light.

Malm said the driver turned in front of the cyclist. The cyclist impacted the front right side of the car, then rolled onto the windshield before falling to the road.

The cyclist was wearing a helmet, and there was significant damage to the helmet, which protected his head. He sustained hand and leg injuries.

He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but was then upgraded to fair.

Malm said investigators are reconstructing the scene and talking to witnesses, but at this point there are no indicators that suggest impairment, and it seems more likely the driver just did not see the cyclist.
