Backyard blaze ends with $150K in damage to West Valley City house

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, June 11, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A fire that began in a backyard Sunday afternoon quickly spread to the house at 3884 S. Ann Drive (3340 West).

West Valley City Fire Battalion Chief Bryan Larsen said a power line was down in the yard when fire crews arrived a little before 5 p.m., but the exact cause of the blaze is still under investigation. Firefighters were still at the scene at 6:40 p.m.

Larsen said no one was in the home at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries. He estimated damages at about $150,000.

The Red Cross was on scene to assist two people who have been displaced by the fire.
