SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Oct. 3, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are searching for a suspect after an altercation over a “bag of drugs” led to a stabbing in Salt Lake City Tuesday morning.

A news release from the Salt Lake City Police Department said the incident occurred in the area of 1700 S. Main St. just after 7 a.m.

“The victim and a witness were in the area of 1700 South when the victim accidentally dropped his bag of drugs,” the news release said. “The suspect picked up the bag of drugs and took a ‘finders-keepers’ approach to the situation. The victim took exception to this and demanded the drugs back, threatening to hold the suspect’s bike until the drugs were returned.”

The suspect then produced a knife and stabbed the victim.

“The suspect fled the area on his bike that he took back from the victim,” the news release goes on.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police did not provide a description of the suspect.
