WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH – August 31, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A man is in stable condition Monday after a verbal altercation turned into a shooting outside a bar in West Valley City late Sunday night.

According to Lt. Jeff Conger, West Valley City Police, officers were dispatched to a shooting call at the Bout Time located at 3318 Decker Lake Drive, just before midnight.

When officers arrived, they found the victim, a man in his 30’s, had been shot in the backside of his abdomen but appeared to be stable.

The victim said he had been in a minor verbal altercation with two Hispanic males inside the bar but thought the fight was over when the men left.

“The victim then went outside the bar to have a smoke when the two men returned to the area and confronted him again,” said Lt. Conger. “This time one of the men punched him and the other man pulled out a gun and fired two shots, one hitting the victim.”

The two men left in a silver BMW and Lt. Conger said they have some leads and they are pretty certain they will be able to identify the suspects.

They do believe the two men involved are gang affiliated but the fight was not gang related.

The victim was transported to the local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
