New human-caused wildfire burning north of Vernal

VERNAL, Utah, Sept. 3, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A new wildfire burning north of Vernal has grown to approximately 2,500 acres Monday.

A tweet from Utah Fire Info said the fire started in the Bureau of Land Management’s Green River District, which is around 60 miles north of Vernal.

The fire, called the Bender Mountain Fire, ignited on Sunday, the tweet said.

It was human-caused, officials added, though the exact cause is under investigation.
