BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON, Utah, March 1, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — The remote location of a cabin burning near Solitude Mountain Resort made fighting the Tuesday morning blaze difficult.

Dispatchers got a residential alarm alerting them to the fire at about 4:20 a.m. The cabin is about a mile west of Solitude Resort, near the Silver Fork Lodge. Initially, one four-wheel-drive truck was able to get up the steep road, but other response vehicles could not make the drive.

It took firefighters 10 minutes to get a water line. The structure was fully engulfed by that point, so firefighters took a defensive stance and are letting the fire burn out. At 9 a.m., officials expected to be at the site several more hours.

No one was in the home, which reportedly is owned by a non-Utah resident.
