SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec. 8, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — A bizarre car accident in Salt Lake City Tuesday night involved a vehicle that landed vertically between a tree and another vehicle.

According to Salt Lake City Fire Department Chief Michael Harp, dispatchers received a call at about 8 p.m. of an accident with someone trapped in a vehicle near 1600 W. Beck St.

“Upon arrival we noticed the car had rolled and landed on its front end resting against a tree and another vehicle it hit,” Harp said. “We had to stabilize the car with special equipment from hazmat before we could extricate the patient.”

Harp said the female driver inside was alert and oriented while crews worked to secure her vehicle so they could get to her.

“She did remarkably well considering the nature of the accident,” Harp said. “There is major damage to the vehicle, the roof was crushed in on her and she was still strapped in her seat belt.”

The driver was taken by ambulance to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Harp said it is not known at this time if drugs or alcohol were factors.
