JUAB COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 2, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A Blanding man is dead after the dump truck he was driving tipped onto its side in Juab County Thursday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Kayonnie Rodriquez, 43, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred just after 9:50 a.m. on State Route 46 near mile marker 19.

“A dump truck hauling road base traveling eastbound was unable to negotiate a sharp curve in the road,” the UHP reported. “The dump truck tipped over onto its passenger side, slid into the bar ditch and onto its top coming to a rest in the bar ditch up against the hillside.”

Rodriquez, the sole occupant of the vehicle, sustained fatal injuries. He was wearing a seat belt, officials said.

Speed and distracted driving are being investigated as possible causes of the crash.
