Blown power transformer ignites brush fire in West Valley City

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Aug. 6, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Some 700 customers were left without power in West Valley City Monday morning after a power transformer blew and ignited a brush fire.

The fire broke out in the area of 2400 West and Parkway Boulevard at approximately 1 a.m., officials said.

Crews extinguished the blaze in around 30 minutes and power was restored to residents by 4 a.m.

No one was injured and no structures were damaged as a result of the brush fire.

The cause is still under investigation.
