Bluffdale police say incident where man may have touched child inappropriately was misunderstanding

BLUFFDALE, Utah, July 3, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Police in Bluffdale said an incident in which a man may have touched a child inappropriately turned out to be a misunderstanding.

A news release from Saratoga Springs/Bountiful Police Departments said it was reported that on June 26 between 6 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. in a residential area in Bluffdale, a man had “slapped a child’s buttocks while the child was out playing in their front yard.”

The man was seen on a neighbor’s ring door camera walking on the sidewalk after the incident, but the alleged incident was not captured.

Police officials later spoke with the man in question and it turned out the situation was a misunderstanding.

Officials said the man actually patted the child on the side while passing by him.
