MIDVALE, Utah, April 24, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Authorities have ruled the death of someone killed Sunday when fire destroyed a vacant house in Midvale as accidental.

The person, whose name has not been released, died as a result of the fire rather than due to other suspicious circumstances, according to the finding.

The Unified Police Authority said Sunday the body was found inside the home.

Lt. Lex Bell told Gephardt Daily first responders were initially called to a home at 7260 S. Union 1030 East about 9 a.m with reports of smoke and flames pouring from the back of the structure.

Once firefighters made their way into the residence, they found a single body inside.

There is no word yet on the victim’s identity or a cause of death.

Gephardt Daily has a crew on the scene and will have more information on this developing story as information becomes available.
