SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Sept. 28, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City police are searching for a suspect who stabbed two bouncers outside a local bar early Saturday morning.

Officers were called to the Totem Club and Cafe, at 538 S. Redwood Road, at about 1:30 a.m. When they arrived, they found two bouncers who had suffered superficial stab wounds — one to the leg, the other to the abdomen — along with two of three suspects who had been “taken down” after tangling with the bouncers in the club parking lot.

SLCPD Lt. Carlos Valencia told Gephardt Daily the incident began when the men were told leave the bar after causing a disturbance. Despite being 86’d, they continued to raise a ruckus, while driving their SUV through the bar’s parking lot.

Valencia said the driver of the SUV made the decision to confront the bouncers, and was quickly subdued. A second man, who was armed with a baseball bat, also confronted bouncers and met a similar fate. Both men now face aggravated assault charges.

A third assailant emerged from the SUV while brandishing a knife. He managed to stab both bouncers before running east across Redwood Road and disappearing into a nearby apartment complex.

One of the bouncers was taken to the University of Utah Hospital where he was treated for a superficial wound, according to Valencia.

The driver of the SUV was also hospitalized after suffering a head injury while fighting with the bouncers.

The suspect who managed to flee is described as a male, wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and sporting a mohawk.
