Update: Bountiful man arrested after allegedly threatening to use weapons of mass destruction

BOUNTIFUL, Utah, June 6, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — A Bountiful man has been taken into custody Sunday evening by Unified Police officers after he allegedly made threats involving weapons and explosives.

Earlier in the day, South Davis Metro SWAT served a search warrant on the suspect’s home, in the area of Ridgewood Lane and Ridgewood Way in Bountiful. Officers with Bountiful Police Department also were on scene.

Robert Jack Turville, 62, fled his home and was later located by Unified Police officers at the residence of an acquaintance who was unaware of the situation, UPD Detective Ken Hansen told Gephardt Daily.

Turville was arrested without incident, Hansen said.

Hansen said police were contacted by an individual or individuals who had been informed of threats made by Turville against someone else.

UPD mental health detectives are in Turville’s home Sunday night, going through evidence and looking for weapons and explosives, Hansen said.

Turville was transported to Salt Lake County Jail, as UPD is in charge of the case.

According to booking information, Turville is facing possible charges of:

  • Criminal solicitation, a first-degree felony
  • Possession, use of weapon of mass destruction, a first-degree felony
  • Threat of violence, a second-degree felony
  • Possession of a deadly weapon with intent to assault, a class A misdemeanor
  • Threat of violence, a class B misdemeanor
