DRAPER, Utah, Nov. 20, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A horrific rollover accident near 13200 South and Highland Drive (1715 East) claimed the lives of two teenagers Saturday night when they were ejected from the vehicle, which then burst into flames.

Those teenagers were identified late Sunday afternoon by Draper Police. Lexi Fenton, 16, and Ethan Fraga, 16, died at the scene of the accident. Hayden Gale, 16, Romey Kelly, 16, and Lauren Fenton, 16, were injured in the accident and transported to Intermountain Medical Center.

One of the injured juveniles has already been released from hospital, Draper Police added. The other two juveniles are expected to be released later Sunday.

Draper Police said the five 16-year-olds in the car were heading northbound on Highland at about 11 p.m., when the female driver appears to have lost control of the vehicle. Investigators don’t yet know what caused her to lose control.

Police blocked off the area to all traffic, leaving only one route clear for the fire crew responding to the car fire.

Parents of the teens arrived at the scene or went directly to the hospital.

Officials added in the news release Sunday afternoon: “The tragic accident last night involving five teenagers from Draper continues to be investigated by Draper Police and details regarding the accident will not be released at this time.

“Our hearts go out to the families of all involved and the Draper community.”

Corner Canyon High School, where the teens were students, released the following statement on its Facebook page Sunday:

Alta Community,

As many of you know by now the Corner Canyon High School and Draper community were struck with tragedy last night with the loss of both Lexie Fenton and Ethan Fraga (due to an automobile accident). Stories about such have surfaced on several local news channels.

Tonight there will be a vigil held at 6:45 p.m. at Draper Park to commemorate their lives and to show collective support for their family and friends. Balloons will be available to share a written message on and they will all be released together at the same time. We would encourage any and all Hawks who knew either or both students to attend.

Tomorrow, we will wear navy blue to show our support for our neighborhood and adjacent school community.

A message has been shared with our entire staff to be aware, and to also guide students to our counseling center at Alta who may be in need of such supports, as we recognize both the Draper and Sandy communities are interwoven.

We will also be providing breakfast and a care package to several of the student support staff tomorrow at CCHS.

We will collectively keep the families in our thoughts and prayers.

“We are Alta”
“We are Canyon’s”
“We are Family”

  1. I was the operator that took the calls at IMC when these young people came in. Very heart breaking. My prayers go out to all the families and friends to all of these young people.
