SALEM, Idaho, June 9, 2020 (Gephardt Daily/East Idaho News) — Human remains have been found at the Idaho home of Chad Daybell, and he has been taken into custody, police report.

Daybell is the husband of Lori Vallow Daybell, whose children, Joshua “J.J.” Vallow and Tylee Ryan, went missing in September of last year.

Vallow Daybell has been incarcerated since February of this year and is charged with  two counts of desertion and nonsupport of a dependent child. She has declined to share the location of J.J and Tylee with police.

Lori and Chad Daybell married in November of last year, two weeks after the death of his wife, Tammy. Police have since described the death of Tammy Daybell as “suspicious,” and exhumed her body from a grave in her childhood home of Springville, Utah. The report on her autopsy has not yet been released.

According to a report by East Idaho News, Lori and Chad Daybell were married with rings she had ordered online prior to Tammy’s death. Vallow Daybell reportedly used a credit card belonging to Charles Vallow, Lori’s previous husband, who in August 2019 was shot to death by Lori’s brother, Alex Cox, who claimed self-defense.

Cox died in December of last year of what was determined to be natural causes.

Fremont County Sheriff’s deputies, Rexburg Police officers and the FBI arrived at the house at about 7 a.m., the East Idaho News reported.

The warrant from the Rexburg Police Department is sealed, so it is unknown what information officers are trying to obtain, but at a brief news conference, an officer did say the warrant was connected to Lori’s missing children.

Utah-based FBI spokeswoman Sandra Barker confirmed that the agency’s Evidence Response Team is assisting Madison County with the execution of a search warrant.

This was the second major search performed at the Daybell home, and the first time Chad Daybell has been taken into custody.

In the first search, in January, law enforcement removed 43 items from the house. Officers searched a shed and used metal detectors, probes and rakes to go over several portions of the yard.
