DAVIS COUNTY, Utah, May 9, 2022 (Gephardt Daily) — One lane of southbound traffic has been restored on Interstate 15, after travel in both directions came to stop early Monday when a power line draping across the highway led to several accidents near Parrish Lane.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol … “at approximately 4:11 a.m. a power line was reportedly hanging down near Parrish Lane in Davis County. Initial reports indicate a semi-truck traveling on I-15 approaching Parrish Ln, was hauling a container and struck the power line, crashed and overturned.
“The truck struck the center median sending concrete debris into the northbound lanes” damaging multiple vehicles, the UHP said.
“A Union Pacific train then struck the downed power line.”
There were no reports of major injuries, the UHP said, adding later that the semi driver was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
A 5:09 a.m. a tweet by Centerville Police warned commuters morning travel could be challenge.
“Traffic conditions will be a nightmare today in South Davis County,” CPD wrote.
There is no word yet on what caused the power line to sag.
UDOT expects the accident site to be cleared by 8 a.m.
