RIVERTON, Utah, Nov. 9, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Three Unified Fire firefighters were injured Saturday afternoon after knocking down a car and garage fire, which unexpectedly reignited after flammable liquids burst into flames.
Firefighters were called to the scene, near 1230 W. 13200, just before 1 p.m., Unified Fire spokesman Benjamin Porter told Gephardt daily.
There was a car that caught fire inside a detached garage, Porter said. Crews had doused the fire, and were beginning the cleanup portion of the operation.
“There were flammable liquids that reignited with the personnel still inside,” Porter said. “Personnel quickly exited and they were extinguished by other fire crews that were waiting outside.
“We have one firefighter that was treated on scene, two firefighters transported with minor injuries, and our last update is that they are all doing well in the emergency room.
“Firefighting is inherently dangerous, and this is why we remain vigilant and make sure we have our PPE (personal protective equipment) on at all times, to make sure that we’re ready for any kind of situation.”
No residents of the house were injured, Porter said.
