TAYLORSVILLE, UTAH – November 6, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Police are searching for a suspect who clipped an officer in a gas station parking lot, wrecked his car, then ran.

Unified Police spokesman Lt. Lex Bell said officers spotted 42-year-old Ronald Noel, who they said is a known white supremacist, in a vehicle at a Chevron gas station at 5600 South Redwood Road.

Lt. Bell said Noel went into the store and officers discovered he has a Class A no bail warrant for probation violation with multiple charges, and the car wasn’t his. The officer then called for backup.

When Noel came out of the store and authorities tried to talk to him, he got in his car, turned it on and punched the gas but hadn’t put the car in gear. The Sgt. attempted to open the driver’s side door to get Noel out of the car, but Noel got the car into reverse and lurched backwards. The Sgt. was caught by the door and dragged backwards, but he managed to get free and rolled away, in the opposite direction of the tires. The officer was not injured.

The second officer deployed a Taser but Noel somehow got away and a high-speed chase ensued, with speeds over 90 mph on Redwood Road. Noel then crashed into an embankment and ran.

Police set up a containment area near 2200 West and 4100 South and searched for Noel with canine officers. Officers then made the decision to pull the containment.

If anyone has more information about Noel they are asked to call the Unified Police Department at 801-743-7000
