SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, April 4, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — LDS Church President Thomas S. Monson has been hospitalized just two days after speaking at a session of the 187th Annual Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Monson “… was not feeling well last evening and was admitted to the hospital,” Eric Hawkins, spokesman for the LDS Church, said on Tuesday.

Monson received treatment and fluids, Hawkins said, “and hopefully will be released soon.”

Monson, 89, attended the Saturday morning session of conference, but remained at home for the afternoon session, reportedly to conserve energy.

Monson spoke at the Sunday morning session, where he announced five new temples and gave a short talk. He did not attend later sessions. He was hospitalized Tuesday.

Concern for Monson’s health was high after an October 2015 conference talk in which the church president began to slur his words and appeared to lose his balance before being helped to his seat.

A statement released by Hawkins at that time said, “It’s natural that he and others in church leadership are feeling the effects of advancing age.”

According to his biography posted on ldsnewsroom.org, Monson became the 16th president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in February 2008. He served as a counselor in the First Presidency starting in 1985 and became first counselor to President Gordon B. Hinckley in 1995. Monson was sustained to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in 1963 at the age of 36.

  1. Our children love President Monson and are grateful for his words and his example. We hope he gets better soon.

  2. Bryan it sounds like you got your facts wrong. Every child in the church receives a special blessing as an infant and received as many Priesthood Blessings as they seek throughout their childhood and young adulthood as well.

And this article failed to mention that President Monson also spoke at the Saturday evening Conference Priesthood Session and after the Sunday morning session (where President Monson also spoke) there was just one session (not multiple) that started 2 hours later that he did not attend. So he attended AND SPOKE AT 2 of the 4 conference sessions. It is actually very typical for all of the General Authorities to not be in attendance of every session for security purposes.

  3. So, all the suicides of LGBT ”mormons” didn’t seem to bother him did they. Hopefully when He is gone the LDS will be able to discuss the real truth about the mormon foundations I mean THE REAL Truth – from a Younger more Cognitive Mormon Leader a Non American Convert and not a generationally indoctrinated sick old white man
