TAYLORSVILLE, Utah, March 12, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Police in Taylorsville have identified the man killed in an auto-pedestrian accident near 5400 South and 3400 West early Thursday morning.

The deceased is Christopher Horan, 42, of Springville, Unified Police Department said in a statement on Twitter.

Unified Police Lt. Manfred Lassig told Gephardt Daily officers were called to the accident site around 2 a.m.

When first responders arrived they found a gravely injured man lying in the eastbound lane of 5400 South.

Police attempted CPR, but Horan died at the scene.

Lassig said there is no crosswalk in the immediate area, which he described as “dimly lit.” Why the victim was crossing the road at that location was a mystery, Lassig said.

The driver of the Toyota that hit the pedestrian remained on scene and was described as cooperative.
