SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – October 19, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) –Â Salt Lake police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian accident which claimed the life of an elderly woman Sunday night.
According to investigators, Rita Avery, 72, was killed after being hit by both a car and pickup truck around 8:40 p.m. while in the southbound lanes of 700 East at 700 South.
Avery was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the she was not in a crosswalk when she was struck.
Investigators say poor visibility due to rain may have been a factor in the accident.
No charges have been filed in the case.
Police say their investigation is ongoing.
