LEHI, UTAH – September 3, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A Lehi woman struck by lightning at a picnic in her backyard on Sunday, died from her injuries Wednesday night. Carla Grow, 50, was an assistant softball coach at Lehi High School. The head softball coach at the school confirmed her death Thursday morning.
Sunday evening, lightning hit a tree in the yard where Grow was having dinner, shocking and sending her into cardiac arrest.
Grow was put into a medically induced coma and doctors reported signs of improvement on Tuesday when she reportedly opened her eyes.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for Grow, which was updated Thursday at around 10 a.m.: “Thank you for all of the help. Our dear Coach passed away peacefully last night surrounded by family. If you would like to continue to give, to help funeral costs, you are welcome to do so.”
Other people at the gathering were hurt but they did not have life-threatening injuries.
The GoFundMe page can be found here.
She was actually in her back yard when lightning struck a tree. She is in bad condition but everyone else is fine, minus being shook up.
