Three others are in serious to critical condition following the rollover accident in Herriman Thursday afternoon.

Unified Police said a Dodge pickup carrying three Herriman High School girls entered the intersection of 14400 South and Mountain View Highway when the light turned green. But, a white Mazda allegedly ran a red light, smashed into the passenger side of the pick-up and caused it to roll over.

The pick-up then hit a dump truck that stopped when the driver saw the fast-moving Mazda heading through the intersection.

Investigators said Connor was sitting in the front passenger seat of the pick-up. The two other high school girls are hospitalized in serious condition but expected to recover.

The driver of the Mazda, a woman in her 20s, was taken to the hospital where she is listed in serious to critical condition. She had a baby strapped into a car seat in the back of the Mazda who police say appears to have escaped without any injuries. The baby was taken to the hospital for observation. The Mazda driver is reportedly the baby’s aunt.

A specialized team will be reconstructing the accident scene to determine what happened and the speeds involved.

The northbound lanes of Mountain View Corridor at 14400 S. were closed for most of the day yesterday.

We will have more on this developing story as information becomes available.
