VIDEO: One Killed In Midvale TRAX Train-Truck Collision

MIDVALE, UTAH  – September 7, 2015  (Gephardt Daily) – At least one person has been killed in a TRAX train-truck collision at 100 East 8000 South in Midvale.

The incident happened just before 11 a.m. when a westbound truck collided with a southbound TRAX train.

The driver of the truck has been identified as 80-year-old West Jordan resident, Howard Glenn Hillam. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nine passengers were on the train at the time of the accident. None of them were injured.

Witnesses say the TRAX train was traveling 40-50 miles per hour when the pick-up truck drove through the crossing gate and into the side of the train.

Investigators say they’re awaiting blood tests to see if drugs, alcohol or medical incident may have caused the crash.
