Breaking: University of Utah police sound alarm over report of sexual assault outside Marriott Library

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Mar 26, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The University of Utah has issued a campus wide alert warning students of a reported sexual assault which happened outside the Marriott Library about 10:30 p.m. Monday. 

According to the alert, posted on social media at 4:48 a.m. Tuesday, the assault “was reported have occurred in the area west of Marriott Library on the U campus” with University Police responding to the incident just after midnight.

“No details of the alleged assailant are available at this time, and the police investigation is ongoing,” the alert said.

Anyone with “helpful information” was asked to contact University of Utah Campus Police at 801-585-2677 (801-585-COPS).

“In the immediacy of this event: If you wish to use a courtesy escort anywhere on campus, 24-hours-a-day, call 801-585-2677 to arrange service.

“Be alert of your surroundings and immediately report any suspicious activities. More information will be shared as it becomes available.”
