UDOT shares timelapse video of 600 East bridge demolition over I-15 in Lehi

LEHI, Utah, June 3, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Department of Transportation has shared a timelapse video of the demolition of the 600 East bridge over Interstate 15 in Lehi, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Interstate 15 was closed in both directions from Lehi Main Street to 2100 North from midnight to 8 a.m. Sunday.

“Early this morning, crews successfully demolished the bridge,” a news release from UDOT said. “In just eight hours, crews were able to remove the bridge deck, girders and supports, and still have the freeway open for daytime traffic.”

The demolition is part of the I-15 Technology Corridor project. This project is widening I-15 to six lanes in both directions and rebuilding the interstate with new pavement from State Route 92 to Lehi Main Street. The 600 East Bridge will be rebuilt as part of the project as well.

Construction will continue through late 2020.
