GIBBONSVILLE, Idaho, May 30, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Two 10-year-old cousins who were killed in a UTV crash in central Idaho Saturday will be buried in Brigham City, it was announced Wednesday.

The deceased are Avery Elizabeth Kohl and Lydia Jane Chaffin, according to GoFundMe pages set up by family members.

The girls died after the UTV they were on with five other people rolled off the road down an embankment, according to Lemhi County Sheriff’s officials. The incident occurred on on Lick Creek Road near Gibbonsville Saturday morning during a family reunion.

A GoFundMe page set up for Avery was set up by her grandmother, Pleasant Grove resident Nancy Chaffin:

“From the time she arrived, she demonstrated a zest for life that remained unparalleled. She radiated love and kindness. In her short 10 years, she experienced many adventures with family and friends. She was a dancer, an artist, and a designer. She loved her family and was a true friend to everyone who had the pleasure to meet her.”

Chaffin wrote that one of Avery’s final assignments in fourth grade was writing about what she wanted to do for her life’s work.

“She took the assignment very seriously, and, after much contemplation, finally decided that she wanted to be a humanitarian so she could, in her own words, ‘Help people!’,” the page said. “She wanted to make a difference by helping people all over the world. We are currently filing paperwork to set up the Avery Kohl Humanitarian Fund to fulfill that vision and your donations provide the seed money for this fund.”

The GoFundMe page to benefit Lydia, who was Avery’s cousin, was set up by her grandmother and grandfather, Nampa, Idaho, residents Phil and Gwen Jones:

“She is the middle child of five, the bridge between the older sisters and younger brothers and the center of the whirlwind of activity in their active home,” the page said.

“Lydia’s favorite part of life, in spite of all the interests and experiences she relished, was her family. She recently told her sister: ‘I love my family so much. I don’t wish for anything else!’ To be with her family forever is one thing she is counting on, now that she has gone home to her Heavenly Father.”

  1. I am so sad to hear what happened to these sweet little girls.
May you rest in heaven and wrap your love around your families.

  2. I was so sad when i heard about this from one of my friends. Although I did not personally know her well. I am friends with her older sister, Liesel. Although I don’t personaally know the pain of losing close family members, I know it hurts emotionally, and just knowing that someone feels that way makes me sad. I hope that she will rest happily in heaven.
