SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Feb. 12, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are investigating after shots were fired at the scene of a burglary in Salt Lake City Sunday night.

The Salt Lake Police Department responded to the Boost Mobile store at 715 S. 900 West after receiving a report of a burglary in progress at approximately 11:30 p.m., according to officials.

Adult Probation and Parole officers who happened to be in the area were the first to arrive on the scene, followed by SLCPD officers.

Authorities confronted several suspects in two cars; a small silver car and a white Cadillac. Officials said the suspects then fired at officers and the officers returned fire. Nobody was hit or injured.

The suspects then fled in their vehicles, in different directions. Police pursued the Cadillac, with speeds reaching 110 mph, westbound on 600 South, then southbound on Redwod Road onto I-215.

The pursuit terminated at 1870 N. Rose Park Lane (1985 West) in Salt Lake City when the suspect vehicle crashed.

The male driver tried to flee on foot but was taken into custody. The male passenger cooperated with police and was also taken into custody.

The silver car was found abandoned in the area of 3971 S. Redwood Road in West Valley City. It’s not clear how many suspects were in that vehicle.

The West Valley Police Department is leading the investigation into the incident.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information becomes available.

The names of the suspects have not been released.
