CACHE COUNTY, Utah, June 19, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A Cache County man has been booked into jail on multiple felony charges after sheriff’s officials say a woman contacted them with a video of the suspect assaulting her while she was unconscious.
Kay Kenneth Moosman, 58, was charged with:
- Rape, a first-degree felony
- Sodomy, a first-degree felony
- Object rape, a first-degree felony
- Voyeurism, a class A misdemeanor
- Violating a protective order, a class A misdemeanor
According to a probable cause statement sworn by a Cache County Sheriff’s official, the victim contacted the CCSO on June 7, 2018, to seek a protective order after finding videos and photos on Moosman’s laptop of him raping her while she was asleep or unconscious.
The victim said she had no idea she had been assaulted or that the act was recorded, and she had not consented to either. Graphic photos and video sequences were staged and recorded, and some of what was recorded showed her face, removing any argument that she remained anonymous.
The woman saved some videos and images on a thumb drive to show police.
“I reviewed the videos and photos, and it is obvious that she is passed out asleep, while Kay rapes her,” the probable cause statement says.
“I interviewed Kay over the phone and he admitted to creating the videos of him raping the victim while she was passed out asleep from alcohol and her prescription medications,” the statement says.
Moosman told the officer first that the victim had agreed he could do things to her body and make recordings when she passed out. Later, Moosman said the victim had been faking, and she was awake the whole time and participating.
“Kay told me he had saved all the videos and photos on his cell phone. He acted as though the photos and videos would prove his innocence. I told him that if the photos and videos would prove his innocence he needed to bring his phone to me, so I could obtain the evidence.
“Kay agreed to come into my office and meet with me, but never showed up.”
In addition, Moosman violated the protective order by driving to the victim’s home, he said to see someone else. When he was spotted by the victim and others, he kept driving, he said.
In addition, hours after the protective order was served on Moosman, someone entered the home and removed both computers. Moosman told police it was his father, who lives in Bountiful, and the older man had destroyed them.
In an interview, the suspect’s adult daughter told police that she had retrieved the computers for Moosman, and he had smashed them to pieces with a hammer.
Moosman was again seen near the victim’s house on Friday, and was arrested and booked into the Cache County Jail.
