CACHE COUNTY, Utah, April 15, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — A Cache County teacher has been arrested after he allegedly assaulted at least one student.

On Wednesday, the school resource officer for Spring Creek Middle School in Providence was notified by the Cache County School District of an alleged assault on a student by a teacher, said a news release from Cache County Sheriff’s Office.

“The teacher had been placed on administrative leave by the school district pending the outcome of a criminal and internal investigation,” the news release said. “Later that same evening a report was made to Cache County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies by a local hospital where a student was being treated for an injury sustained in an alleged assault.”

It was determined that the juvenile receiving treatment was one of several victims in the alleged incident from the middle school, the news release said.

Investigators with the Cache County Sheriff’s Office assisted school resource officers in an investigation Thursday morning.

Interviews were done with multiple students and school staff in an effort to determine what had occurred. As a result of that investigation, Scott D. Meeker, 51, was arrested and booked into jail on one count of second-degree felony child abuse, one count of third-degree felony aggravated assault and three counts of class B misdemeanor assault.

This is an ongoing investigation, the news release said.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
