CACHE COUNTY, Utah, June 21, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are investigating a single-vehicle accident that occurred Friday night on the west side of Hyrum Reservoir near the Hyrum Dam.

According to a news release from Cache County Sheriff D. Chad Jensen, shortly before 7:30 p.m., a 22-year-old woman was driving eastbound and failed to negotiate the bend in the road around the dam.

Her vehicle left the road and crashed in the dam.

The driver was able to get out of the vehicle and was transported to Logan Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“At this time, alcohol is suspected as a factor in this crash,” the news release says.

The vehicle was still in Hyrum Reservoir Friday night waiting for a wrecker to arrive.

“We extend our appreciation to our citizen who witnessed this crash and rendered assistance,” Sheriff Jensen said in the news release.

Gephardt Daily will update this developing story as more information is made available.
