Cedar City Police investigate recent rape case, say suspect at large is public safety risk

CEDAR CITY, Utah, Sept. 20, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Cedar City police are investigating a report of a rape, and through their investigation they have determined that the suspect is a public safety risk.

On the night of Sept. 18, the Cedar City Police Department was made aware of a rape in the area of 576 W. 1045 North, a news release from CCPD Sgt. Clint Pollock says.

If you are in this area, we ask that you be vigilant, aware of your surroundings, and have safety measures in place to protect yourself,” the news release states.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man, approximately 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall, with an average build. He was wearing a burgundy hooded sweater and a dark mask.

The police are asking for the public’s help as they seek information regarding the rape incident. Anyone who has any information related to this case is asked to call Detective Orton at 435-586-2956.
