SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, Sept. 24, 2016 (Gephardt Daily)– The sudden change in weather is causing problems on Utah’s roadways.

The Utah Highway Patrol and UDOT reported numerous accidents along the Wasatch Front overnight, including two early morning semitrailer jack-knifing incidents, one of which closed traffic on eastbound Interstate 80 in the I-15 interchange.

Sgt. Nick Bricker, of the Utah Highway Patrol, told Gephardt Daily the semi driver that jack-knifed on I-80 around 5:30 a.m. was driving too fast for road conditions when he hit a pool of standing water and lost control of his vehicle.

Sgt. Bricker said the same was true for an early Saturday morning semi accident on 2100 South.

“The roads are really slick,” said Bricker. “It’s dangerous for everybody involved, especially truckers. We’ve responded now to four jack-knifing incidents in two days, and they were all weather-related.”

Bricker said drivers simply need to pay attention now that the roadways are becoming increasingly wet.

There were no reports of serious injuries in any of the overnight accidents.
