UPDATE: Second Suspect in Family Dollar Robbery Arrested

Jones, Jeffery SO# 384427 mugWEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH – April 16, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) Today detectives received additional information and arrested Jeffrey Jones as the second suspect in the Family Dollar robbery.  He was arrested at an apartment in West Valley without incident.  He will be booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for aggravated robbery.

Unified Police Department Detectives received several tips identifying Gary Grant as one of the suspects and April 14, detectives arrested Grant at his home in Taylorsville without incident.

The two men robbed the Family Dollar in Taylorsville Monday morning leaving the clerk tied up in the back room.

According to Lt. Justin Hoyal, UPD spokesperson, the two men entered the store around 11 a.m. and pretended to be shopping. “Once the men got to the front to pay, one of the men pulled a hand gun on the clerk and demanded she open the safe.” The clerk was able to open the safe and give the men the cash before they tied her up in the back room of the store before they left.

“The clerk was then able to untie herself and call 911.” said Hoyal.
