TAYLORSVILLE, Utah, April 5, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A construction worker is in stable condition after he injured his back falling on a roof Wednesday and became immobilized.
Battalion Chief Lee Ascarte with Unified Fire Authority said the incident happened at 4455 S. Atherton Drive at approximately 11 a.m. Wednesday.
“From what I understand, he was doing some roof repairs, on the structure, but we’re not sure if he fell or just had an injury of some type,” Ascarte said. “He could not self-extricate due to the pain that he was having in his back.
“We had our ladder company go up to the roof, with paramedics to assess the patient, and did realize we were going to have to do a hoist maneuver. I called our heavy rescue company that specializes in those type of rescues and we were able to extricate the victim off the roof in about 30 minutes.”
The construction worker was transported to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray.
Nobody else was injured in the incident.
