STOCKTON, Utah, Feb. 5, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Drivers in Stockton got an up-close look at Mountain West wildlife Monday evening when a cougar came down from its mountain habitat.
“Dispatch received many calls reporting a cougar on the side of the road,” a social media post from Tooele County Dispatch Center says.
“Division of Wildlife was already in the area, was aware of it’s presence, and the animal was NOT HARMED.”
A dispatch center employee told Gephardt Daily that DWR employees “already had eyes on” the mountain lion, and kept watch until it made its way back into the hills, away from the area where people live.
“Remember, if you see a cougar in the wild, don’t corner the cougar, don’t run, and don’t make eye contact,” the dispatch center’s post says.
“If you ever come in contact with a cougar in a residential area, dial 9-1-1 immediately!”
