PROVO, Utah, Jan. 8, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Provo Police are warning the public about a batch of counterfeit $50 and $100 bills that are currently in circulation in the area.

Detectives recently arrested a suspect who was producing the counterfeit bills, the Provo Police Department said in a news release on Facebook.

“The ‘pen’ test is not effective in detecting the bills as they were produced from altering authentic bills of a lesser currency value,” the news release said.

Anyone who thinks they might  have received any of these bills, in Provo, is asked to contact PPD detectives at 801-852-6255.
