OGDEN, Utah, June 19, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) -- Arrest documents filed by Ogden City police hours after the stabbing death of a 48-year-old woman reveal that the 25-year-old man taken into custody on the scene was her son.
Alec Conrad Martinez was booked into the Weber County jail for investigation of:
- Aggravated murder, a first-degree felony
- Disarming a police officer -- energy device, a third-degree felony
A call came to dispatch 1:09 p.m. Thursday, an earlier OCPD news release says.
Weber County "dispatchers received a frantic phone call from a woman screaming, 'he has a knife!' Then it was quickly followed by multiple screams of 'Alec' and other distressing commotions," the arrest document for Martinez says.
"Dispatch was unable to speak with or obtain any further information from the caller, but pinged the phone and received a location of the disturbance.
"While officers were en route, more commotion was overheard along with screaming. Eventually, a male got on the line and told dispatch, 'I think I killed my Mom.'"

Officers arrived at the scene, in the 1400 block of Washington Boulevard, and found the victim, "who had sustained critical injuries consistent with a knife assault," and OCPD news release says. "Officers also identified and detained a 25-year-old male suspect who was still on scene."
As officers arrived, a man, later identified as Martinez, exited the residence, "and confronted officers in the street with a bloody knife in his hand. Officers gave commands for him to drop it, which Alec did not immediately comply with," his arrest documents say.
"After several moments of commands being given, Alec tossed the knife on the ground, and he was placed under arrest."
Martinez's mother was found on the porch of the home where both resided. The victim had "severe lacerations to her neck and other areas of her body, consistent with injuries from a knife," the court documents say.
"Medical aid was immediately given to the victim, and she was transported to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries."
The statement says while officers were attempting to place Alec in the back of a police vehicle, "he grabbed an officer's Taser on his belt and tried to remove it. He was given commands to release the Taser, but he failed to obey and continued to pull on the Taser in an attempt to remove it from the holster.
"After a brief struggle, officers were able to remove Alec's hands from the taser and place him in a WRAP" restraint. "He was then placed in the back of a patrol car that was eventually transported to Weber County Jail."
Martinez was ordered held without bail.
