WEST WEBER, Utah, May 27, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A 77-year-old Taylor man was transported by medical helicopter to the hospital in Salt Lake City after his SUV rolled over in a crash near 500 South and 4700 West.

Weber County Sheriff’s Sgt. Chad Allen told Gephardt Daily the accident happened just before noon Saturday. A semi hauling a trailer attempted to turn left off 500 South and pulled in front of a Ford Explorer that was northbound on 4700 West.

The 77-year-old driver of the Explorer tried to swerve around the truck, but clipped the front end of it, and the Explorer rolled onto its side.

Rescue personnel from Weber County and Riverdale cut the roof off the Explorer to help the driver out of the vehicle. He was flown to Salt Lake City in stable condition.

Sgt. Allen said the man had no life-threatening injuries and was still in stable condition following surgery on his wrist.

The road was closed for four hours while Utah state troopers came out and reconstructed the accident scene, Allen said.

The 18-year-old driver of the truck, also from Weber County, was not injured. He was cited for failure to yield.
