ROY, Utah, Sept. 28, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A 59-year-old man killed after a three-vehicle crash in Roy on Wednesday night has been identified.

Carey Mikesell passed away at the scene of the crash at the intersection of 3100 West and Midland Drive, said Roy Police Detective Josh Taylor.

A vehicle was traveling on 3100 West at approximately 7:30 p.m. and turned left to travel south on Midland Drive, Taylor said, when it was struck by a car traveling north on Midland Drive.

The northbound car then veered into oncoming traffic and was hit by a southbound SUV, Taylor added.

Mikesell was driving the northbound car, Taylor said.

The driver of the car traveling on 3100 West to turn left was a 16-year-old male who was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The SUV was occupied by a 44-year-old woman and a 14-year-old boy. The woman was taken to the hospital by ambulance with minor injuries, and the boy was taken by a family member to get checked out; he was unhurt.

Taylor said that it is too early to tell if there were any contributing factors to the crash, such as speed or impairment, but a reconstruction team was at the scene.
